It was all over all the news stations last night...

I watched most of the debate and watched a lot of the coverage on all the cable news networks (CNN, MSNBC, FOX News), and probably watched FOX News most out of all 3.

The one thing that I heard out of them and reporters from the other 2 stations is that McCain looks more like, at this stage, it's not so much he wants to be POTUS as much as he doesn't want Obama to be POTUS. I didn't realize that until it was pointed out, but the stern looks, the feigned smiles, the jabs at Obama's past...and all w/o really discussing his own policy.

Lots of people said that McCain needed to win big, and really the best way he could have done that is not to engage Obama on non-issue politics, but to focus on his plans and talk about "when" he became POTUS, not if. He should have stood firm and detailed out his plans, not went on the negative offensive.

    Thoughts?

Re: It was all over all the news stations last night...

Mccain knows he cant beat Obama on the issues and has to resort to attacking every 2 seconds. But I think that if Mccain had concentrated on the pro's of himself instead of the con's of Obama, this would be a lot closer. Now I still think that Obama would be winning, but definitely not by this margin and some of the swing states would go for Mccain. After you see that this type of campaign isnt working and isnt swinging hardly any votes, change your approach...which should have been done a long time ago. It helps Obama more than it helps Mccain, all Obama has to do is say "Hey, lets stay on the issues. America doesnt want to hear the mudslinging" Which he said something like that several times last night. Which goes with your point, people will see/think that Mccain is just out to destroy Obama and not help them - 99% that will bring down any campaign on either side.

McCain, like many of us, hates to see the United States of America become a socialist country.
